Changed – Support for registering WhatsApp Templates using the new message categories.

WhatsApp has recently announced that they are reclassifying all existing templates into one of the three newly introduced categories that are Utility, Marketing, and Authentication. This will be based on the message content of the templates concerned. You will be able to appeal this category change by May 15th from within the WhatsApp Business Manager portal. Reach out to your Webex Connect support contact / account manager for more information.

With this release, we are adding support for WhatsApp message template creation using the new categories. The previously supported WhatsApp message template categories are now deprecated, and you will no longer be able to register new templates using old categories.

Changed – Ability to view the latest and the previously assigned message category for existing and new WhatsApp templates.

You would also be able to view the latest category assigned to a WhatsApp template under the ‘Type/Category’ column as part of the template listing page.

In addition, a new field named ‘Previous Category’ is now available in Manage Template screen for WhatsApp templates. This will showcase the category previously assigned to a message template.

Changed – WhatsApp Template registration process to mandate sample content for variables.

We have made it mandatory for users to provide sample content for variables configured within message content when registering a WhatsApp template. WhatsApp strongly recommends that sample content be provided, and hence we are enforcing it to improve the success rate of new template registration.

Changed – New setting in SMTP-based Email App Config screen to account for explicit review of user consent when using OAuth 2.0 for authentication.

We have added a new checkbox in the SMTP-based email app configuration screen to account for review of user consent when OAuth 2.0 for authentication.

Email service providers such as Microsoft Office 365 provide the administrator with an option to ask for an explicit request to be made before you can map an email account with a new email client. This new configuration option enables you to account for such reviews to be done while configuring new email app asset within Webex Connect.

This setting doesn’t come into effect for existing email apps on its own and you will need to edit your app if you want to leverage this feature.

Please refer to our documentation for more information.
