How to change your WhatsApp Business display name

Your WhatsApp Business display name is how your business name will appear when you send a message to your customers. After your display name has been approved, you can change it.

Depending on whether you have an official business account (OBA), the flow to change the display name is different:

• If you don't have an OBA, follow the steps in this article to change your display name.
• If you have an OBA, you can find a green tick next to the display name. Contact the direct support and provide the following details to change your display name:
  • Question topic: Request an official business account
  • Request type: Update OBA display name

Before you begin

1. Sign up for Meta Business Manager.
2. Depending on how you'll get started with the WhatsApp Business platform:
   1. Create your WhatsApp Business account with your business solution provider
   2. Create a WhatsApp Business account as a business solution provider
3. Connect your phone number to your WhatsApp Business account.

Change your display name

To change your display name in Meta WhatsApp Manager:

1. Go to Business Manager and select your business.
2. Click the triple bar.
3. Click WhatsApp Manager.
4. Click the account that you want to change the display name for.
5. Navigate to the left-most menu and click Phone numbers.
6. Under the Name column, hover over your current display name and click the pencil icon.
7. In the Edit display name section, enter a new display name.
8. Select Next.

Your display name will need to be approved by WhatsApp before an updated certificate becomes available. Once the display name has been approved, you can update it using the following registration method:

• WhatApp Business Platform Cloud API: Register the number using the Registration endpoint. The certificate is not required for this call.
• WhatsApp Business platform on-premises API: Register the new certificate using the Account endpoint.

The certificate for this phone number will be generated based on your current account status:

• If your business is not verified, you'll see a confirmation that your display name has been created and the certificate is available for download immediately.
• If your business is verified, in the Phone numbers section, your phone number will be pending review label below Certificate. Once it's been approved, you'll see a View button. You can click it to see the available certificate for the phone number.

Your businesses can change the display names up to 10 times in a 30-day period. Once the 30-day period is up, a new 30-day period will begin and your businesses can again change the display names up to 10 times in this new 30-day period.

Note

Display name review will no longer be needed to get started on the WhatsApp Business platform. However, if you look to increase messaging limits, you have to complete your business verification. Display name review will be initiated after the business verification has been completed. Businesses should still follow the display name best practices when adding a new phone number.

Remember that the certificate for the new display name is only available for 14 days. If the certificate expires, you'll need to follow the steps above to submit the display name for review again.
